Decrees of Light (authors unknown)

Preamble to Decrees

May all that is involved in Human speech be cleansed,
Our tongues and throats be washed with Light and blessed,
Our minds and hearts clear channels for the God's expression;
And that which we decree SHALL MANIFEST!

May consciousness hold strong in full awareness,
All inner turbulence be laid to rest,
All personal desire be bowed in joyful service;
And that which we decree SHALL MANIFEST!

May each accept his source within the heart of God,
And know that all who live are God expressed,
And know the power of the real shall have dominion;
And that which we decree SHALL MANIFEST!

In Love, in Power, and in Wisdom balanced,
May all the work be done with Truth its test,
Outpicturing the Master's plan through this clear channel;
And that which we decree SHALL MANIFEST!

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the Centre where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little wills of men -
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the Centre which we call the Race of Men
Let the plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Affirmation of the Disciple

I am a Point of Light, within a Greater Light.

I am a Strand of Loving Energy, within the Stream of Love Divine.

I am a Point of Sacrificial Fire

Focused within the fiery Will of God

And thus I stand!

I am a Way by which men may achieve.

I am a Source of Strength, enabling them to stand.

I am a Beam of Light,

Shining upon their Way.

And thus I stand!

And standing thus, revolve;

And tread this way, the ways of men,

And know the ways of God.

And thus I stand!

The Souls of Men

The Souls of men are one

And I am one with them.

I seek to Love, not Hate;

I seek to Serve, and not exact due service;

I seek to Heal, not Hurt.

Let pain bring due reward of Light and Love.

Let the Soul control the outer form

And life and all events,

And bring to light the Love

That underlies the happenings of the time.

Let vision come and insight.

Let the future stand revealed.

Let inner union demonstrate

And outer cleavages be gone.

Let Love prevail.

Let all Souls Love.

I am the Teacher and the Pupil.
I am the Seeker and the Sought.
I am the One and also the All.
I am You and Me and We.
We are All and We are One.
We are Separate and We are Not.
I live in You and You in Me.
Together we strive and reach and grow.
Until there is only God.

I Am the Light of God

I Am the Light of God that never fails.

I Am the rebirth of all into God.

I am the transmutation of all that has been misqualified in my world.

I am perfect Love

And in my Love, all that I am is Bathed, Healed, Reborn

In the Heart of God, I am the Heart of God.

I am the Love and Forgiveness of all that I have created.

I am Divine Gentleness

And in this Gentleness, all resistances will melt away.

I am Divine Power, which does not know limitation.

I am Divine Harmony, which does not reject what is.

I Am Divine Love

I am Divine Love, which has no blame.

I move with the Will of God incarnate.

I Love all that is.

I am Pure Love.

I am the Victory of the Light.

I am the God Within -

And all that is not a true expression of the God I am - I shall forgive.

I am God incarnate -

And all that I have created, I can change.

I am the Victory of Love in my world.

I am the Victory of Wisdom in my world.

I am the Victory of Power in my world.

I am the Victory of God's Love, Wisdom, and Power

Over all that is less than God.

I am the Balance of all that I am.

I am a Channel

I am a Channel of Love, Will, and Service.

I am a Gatekeeper of Universal Energy.

I stand with the Masters of Light -

Against the forces of darkness.

Amen

I Am Life

I am without beginning, without end.

I, who watch personal selves come and go,

Am more than my personal self.

I reach beyond time and space.

I am one part of one Whole - that Whole is God.

I, the offspring of that Whole, have great potential

Through: Trial and Error,

Interaction with others,

Cause and Effect,

And the Law of Rebirth.

I learn to Create, Love, and Blend with the Whole.

I affirm my oneness with all that exists:

Life eternal, unending and triumphant.

I am that Life, now and forever. Amen

Clearing & Cleansing

I call for a clear Mind,

Free from illusions of duality,

Receptive to Divine ideals,

Intuitively hearing the Soul.

I call for a clear Heart,

Free from the bonds of separation,

Shining with the Light of the Christ,

Ready to show God's Love.

I call for a clear Body,

Free from the desires of earth,

Cleansed in the fire of truth,

Ready to do God's Will.

I call for the Angel of the Presence

To command my earthly vessel,

To steer me on the lighted way,

To know God's will and but obey.

Divine Opulence

I call for the Opulence of the Father's Light

To permeate my Soul,

And sound the Tone of the God Within

To ring the opposite pole

I Am the Light of the God Within

And the bubbling joy in me.

I know the peace that comes from Him

And feel His harmony.

I have the wisdom to be real

And the freedom to be free

With the Father’s covenant I now seal

The power of victory.

I am grateful, Father, for opening the gates

So my love can flow again.

And for guiding me through the narrow straits,

To the heart of the God Within.

I Call Upon the God Within

I call upon the God within.

I call for the joy that I Am

To permeate all things -

My Consciousness,

My Being,

My World.

I have all of time.

A whole eternity exists in the Now,

And there just isn't any rush.

I have an abundance of time

And the opulence of God.

Wordsworth - Intimations of Immortality

Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood by William Wordsworth

There was a time when meadow, grove, and stream,
The earth, and every common sight
To me did seem
Apparelled in celestial light,
The glory and the freshness of a dream.
It is not now as it hath been of yore -
Turn wheresoe'er I may,
By night or day,
The things which I have seen I now can see no more.

The rainbow comes and goes,
And lovely is the rose;
The moon doth with delight
Look round her when the heavens are bare;
Waters on a starry night
Are beautiful and fair;
The sunshine is a glorious birth;
But yet I know, where'er I go,
That there hath past away a glory from the earth.

Now, while the birds thus sing a joyous song,
And while the young lambs bound
As to the tabor's sound,
To me alone there came a thought of grief:
A timely utterance gave that thought relief,
And I again am strong.
The cataracts blow their trumpets from the steep;
No more shall grief of mine the season wrong;
I hear the echoes through the mountains throng,
The winds come to me from the fields of sleep,
And all the earth is gay;
Land and sea
Give themselves up to jollity,
And with the heart of May
Doth every beast keep holiday -
Thou child of joy
Shout round me, let me hear thy shouts, thou happy shepherd-boy!

Ye blessed creatures, I have heard the call
Ye to each other make; I see
The heavens laugh with you in your jubilee;
My heart is at your festival,
My head hath its coronal,
The fullness of your bliss, I feel -I feel it all.
O evil day! if I were sullen
While Earth herselfis adorning
This sweet May-morning;
And the children are culling
On every side
In a thousand valleys far and wide
Fresh flowers; while the sun shines warm,
And the Babe leaps up on his Mother's arm: -
I hear, I hear, with joy I hear!
- But there's a tree, of many, one,
A single field which I have looked upon,
Both of them speak of something that is gone:
The pansy at my feet
Doth the same tale repeat:
Whither is fled the visionary gleam?
Where is it now, the glory and the dream?

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting
And cometh from afar;
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home:
Heaven lies about us in our infancy!
Shades of the prison-house begin to close
Upon the growing Boy,
But he beholds the light, and whence it flows,
He sees it in his joy;
The Youth, who daily farther from the east
Must travel, still is Nature's priest,
And by the vision splendid
Is on his way attended;
At length the Man perceives it die away,
And fade into the light of common day.

Earth fills her lap with pleasures of her own;
Yearnings she hath in her own natural kind,
And, even with something of a mother's mind
And no unworthy aim,
The homely nurse doth all she can
To make her foster-child, her inmate, Man,
Forget the glories he hath known,
And that imperial palace whence he came.

Behold the Child among his new-born blisses,
A six years' darling of a pigmy size!
See, where 'mid work of his own hand he lies,
Fretted by sallies of his mother's kisses,
With light upon him from his father's eyes!
See, at his feet, some little plan or chart,
Some fragment from his dream of human life,
Shaped by himself with newly-learned art;
A wedding or a festival,
A mourning or a funeral;
And this hath now his heart,
And unto this he frames his song:
Then will he fit his tongue
To dialogues of business, love, or strife;
But it will not be long
Ere this be thrown aside,
And with new joy and pride
The little actor cons another part;
Filling from time to time his `humorous stage'
With all the Persons, down to palsied Age,
That life brings with her in her equipage;
As if his whole vocation
Were endless imitation.

Thou, whose exterior semblance doth belie
Thy soul's immensity;
Thou best philosopher, who yet dost keep
Thy heritage, thou eye among the blind,
That, deaf and silent, read'st the eternal deep,
Haunted for ever by the eternal Mind, -
Mighty Prophet! Seer blest!
On whom those truths do rest
Which we are toiling all our lives to find,
In darkness lost, the darkness of the grave;
Thou, over whom thy Immortality
Broods like a day, a master o'er a slave,
A Presence which is not to be put by;
Thou little child, yet glorious in the might
Of heaven-born freedom on thy being's height,
Why with such earnest pains dost thou provoke
The years to bring the inevitable yoke,
Thus blindly with thy blessedness at strife?
Full soon thy soul shall have her earthly freight,
And custom lies upon thee with a weight
Heavy as frost, and deep almost as life!

O joy! that in our embers
Is something that doth live,
That Nature yet remembers
What was so fugitive!
The thought of our past years in me doth breed
Perpetual benediction: not indeed
For that which is most worthy to be blest,
Delight and liberty, the simple creed
Of childhood, whether busy or at rest,
With new-fledged hope still fluttering in his breast: -
Not for these I raise
The song of thanks and praise;
But for those obstinate questionings
Of sense and outward things,
Fallings from us, vanishings,
Blank misgivings of a creature
Moving about in worlds not realized,
High instincts, before which our mortal nature
Did tremble like a guilty thing surprised:
But for those first affections,
Those shadowy recollections,
Which, be they what they may,
Are yet the fountain-light of all our day,
Are yet a master-light of all our seeing;
Uphold us -cherish -and have power to make
Our noisy years seem moments in the being
Of the eternal Silence: truths that wake,
To perish never;
Which neither listlessness, nor mad endeavour,
Nor man nor boy,
Nor all that is at enmity with joy,
Can utterly abolish or destroy!
Hence, in a season of calm weather
Though inland far we be,
Our souls have sight of that immortal sea
Which brought us hither;
Can in a moment travel thither -
And see the children sport upon the shore,
And hear the mighty waters rolling evermore.

Then, sing, ye birds, sing, sing a joyous song!
And let the young lambs bound
As to the tabor's sound!
We, in thought, will join your throng
Ye that pipe and ye that play,
Ye that through your hearts today
Feel the gladness of the May!
What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be;
In the soothing thoughts that spring
Out of human suffering;
In the faith that looks through death,
In years that bring the philosophic mind.

And O ye Fountains, Meadows, Hills, and Groves,
Forbode not any severing of our loves!
Yet in my heart of hearts I feel your might;
I only have relinquished one delight
To live beneath your more habitual sway;
I love the brooks which down their channels fret
Even more than when I tripped lightly as they;
The innocent brightness of a new-born day
Is lovely yet;
The clouds that gather round the setting sun
Do take a sober colouring from an eye
That hath kept watch o'er man's mortality;
Another race hath been, and other palms are won.
Thanks to the human heart by which we live,
Thanks to its tenderness, its joys, and fears,
To me the meanest flower that blows can give
Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears.

Beloved

The Beloved is not a noun. It is a verb, it is being-ness constantly unfolding. It is am-ness itself. In this same way, at this same level, you too are not a noun but a process unfolding. You too are the Beloved, the energetic such-ness to which so much devotional literature, poetry, and scripture refer when attempting to express personal experiences of the sacred.

Stephen & Ondrea Levine. (1995). Embracing the beloved: relationship as a path of awakening. New York: Anchor Books, p. 47. image: “Eros and Cupid” by Antonio Canova (Louvre).

Hafiz - "God eavesdrops"

God Eavesdrops

What an opportunity two hearts have whenever they talk.
For when our words are loving, playful and encouraging,
God cannot help but eavesdrop even more than usual.
And then, of course, the odds increase on the divine being
felt.

Ralph Waldo Emerson - prayer as glad conspiring reception

Not thanks, not prayer seem quite the highest or truest name for our communications with the Infinite, - but glad conspiring reception, reception that becomes giving in its turn, as the receiver is only the All-Giver in part and in infancy. I cannot, nor can any man, speak precisely of things so sublime, but it seems to me the wit of man (his strength, his grace, his art) is the grace and presence of God. It is beyond explanation. When all is said and done, the rapt saint is found the only logician. Not exhortation, not argument becomes our lips, but paeans of joy and praise...It is God in us which checks the language of petition by a grander thought. In the bottom of the heart it is said: "I am, by me, O Child! this fair body and world of thine stands and grows. I am; all things are mine; and all mine are thine.

Lord of Love - from Tejabindu Upanishad

To be united with the Lord of Love
Is to be freed from all conditioning.
This is the state of Self-realization,
Far beyond the reach of words and thoughts.
To be united with the Lord of Love,
Imperishable, changeless, beyond cause
And effect, is to find infinite joy.

Rumi - Those who don't feel this love.

Those who don't feel this Love
By Rumi

Those who don't feel this Love
pulling them like a river,
those who don't drink dawn
like a cup of spring water
or take in sunset like supper,
those who don't want to change

let them sleep.

This Love is beyond the study of theology,
that old trickery and hypocrisy.
If you want to improve your mind that way

sleep on.

I've given up on my brain.
I've torn the cloth to shreds
and thrown it away.

If you're not completely naked,
wrap your beautiful robe of words around you
and sleep

Rumi

Rumi roars with less than a whisper, shouting:
"Do you think I know what I am doing?
That for one breath or half breath I belong to myself?

As much as a pen knows what it's writing,
or a ball can guess where it's going next."

~ Rumi, Essential Rumi

Joy.

Lo! What mortal eye hath not seen nor ear heard -
All sorrow finished - the deep, deep ocean of joy
   opening within - the surface sparkling.
The myriad-formed disclosed, each one and all, all things
   that are, transfigured -
Being filled with joy, hardly touching the ground, reaching
   cross-shaped with outstretched arms to the stars,
   along the mountains and the forests, habitation of
   innumerable creatures, singing joy unending -
As the sun on a dull morning breaking through the clouds -
   so from behind the sun another sun, from within the
   body another body - these shattered falling -
Lo! now at last or yet awhile in due time to behold that
   which ye have so long sought -
O eyes, no wonder you are intent.

from "Song of Reality" a prayer of the Seicho-No-Ie holy sutras

God is Life, Perfect, Whole, and immaculate.
I'm a child of God, His spirit within me.
I let live and give  life, strength, and hope to all,
As all things give me life and uplift me.

God is Love, perfect, pure, and all-embracing.
I'm a child of God, His spirit within me.
I love all through and through, seeking to return.
All things also love me and nourish me.

God is Wisdom, unerring and knowing all.
I'm a child of God, His spirit within me.
When in Oneness I pray, Heaven and Earth respond.
When in Oneness I move, the Universe moves.

God is all of everything, everywhere.
I'm a child of God, His spirit within me.
When in Oneness I pray, Heaven and Earth respond.
When in Oneness I move, the Universe moves.

I exist in this wondrous world of Truth.
I am a child of God, child of light, the Almighty.
Perfect peace and grand harmony shall reign.
Radiant world of omnipresent light!

-Seicho-no-Ie prayer
